Vitamin D-3 Chewable by NOW® provides this essential vitamin in a convenient lozenge. The body normally obtains vitamin D from food or produces it (synthesis) in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet radiation contained in sunlight.

However, in the summer, this synthesis is limited due to the use of cosmetics with UV filters and it is recommended for the elderly and pregnant women to avoid excessive exposure to the sun. In the fall and winter, synthesis is limited due to reduced sunlight.
